Exegesis of the New Testament -
Eschatology
Nov 2 - 6, 2008

by Sigve K. Tonstad

@ Southwestern Adventist University

Course Objective:

The aspiration of this exegetical course is to do justice to this one fact: The entire New Testament is suffused with hope. Indeed, the eschatological proclamation that the end will come is based on the apocalyptic conviction that the end has come. The course pursues both of these currents, apocalyptic and eschatology, by looking closely at key passages in the Synoptic Gospels, 2 Thessalonians, and the Book of Revelation. The course is designed for specialized programs such as the M.A. in Pastoral Ministry and the M.A. in Youth Ministry and can be applied as an elective for the M. Div. degree. Matters of pastoral concern will be considered as they arise out of our discussion. Specific issues relative to Seventh-day Adventist theology will be included in our discussion.
