Course Objective:
|
As a Seventh-day Adventist people we have been reading and proclaiming the New testament book of Revelation for generations. Revelation provides the fertile imagery and prophetic context for our sense of being in the world as God’s faithful Remnant proclaiming the Three Angels’ invitations and warnings to a final generation (Rev. 12:17; 14:6-12; 10:8-11; 18:1-5). For the most part we read Revelation historically and doctrinally, sometimes devotionally. Our preaching from its text has tended to be more doctrinal than pastoral, more evangelistic than nurturing Christian faith lived in every day life.
This specialized course in biblical preaching emphasizes the challenges and opportunities of working with—and preaching from—the New Testament book of Revelation. It intentionally focuses on the development of practical strategies, methods, and skills in creating series of sermons (both pastoral and evangelistic) from this important apocalyptic and prophetic book.
